Neck & Lumbar Disc (HIVD)

What is a Herniated Disc?

A "disc" (intervertebral disc) acts as a shock absorber between the vertebrae, allowing for smooth movement. When this disc is damaged or protrudes and compresses the nerves, it is called a Herniated Intervertebral Disc (HIVD). It is categorized into Neck Disc (Cervical) and Lumbar Disc based on the location.

Major Causes: Aging, poor posture, repetitive stress on the neck/waist (high-intensity exercise or labor), trauma such as traffic accidents.

Osundosun Treatment Philosophy

Do I need surgery?
Many patients worry about surgery upon diagnosis, but most cases can be improved with non-surgical treatment. Unless there are emergency symptoms like paralysis, we prioritize conservative treatment.
How is it treated?

The goal is to reduce pressure on the nerves and relieve inflammation. Restoring the balance of surrounding muscles and ligaments leads to good prognosis.

Our Solution:
We manage discs efficiently using Acupuncture, Chuna Manipulation, and Ultrasound-guided Pharmacopuncture to accurately target the lesion.
